When should I call Sunway Van lines?
If you need to move today, we can probably do that. If you require a written in-home estimate, you should call about 7 days to 2 weeks before your move. We generally just ask you to give us as much notice as you can.

How do you determine the price of a move?
Each move price is based on the estimated number of movers needed, Packing materials, packing time (if applicable) and any special considerations (such as pianos or other big pieces). A Sunway consultant will give you an estimate, which will become your actual bill in the end. There are no hidden fees tacked on your bill after the move.

Does the price change if my inventory changes?
A guaranteed price is based on a guaranteed inventory. If the inventory changes, it is your responsibility to contact your sales rep and adjust the agreement to reflect the updated inventory. The inventory should be finalized prior to two business days before the move.

Can My Possessions Be Stored Temporarily?
If you are unable to take immediate possession of your new residence, your belongings can be stored in our warehouse. We provide safe storage facilities for holding your goods until you're ready for them. However, you are responsible for the storage charges, as well as warehouse handling and final delivery charges from the warehouse. If your goods are placed in storage, there will also be an additional charge for the valuation protection coverage provided for your shipment. The type of coverage and cost will depend upon whether the shipment is held in storage-in-transit (temporary) or in permanent (long-term) storage. What are my responsibilities?
In brief...

  • Be present during the packing of your belongings.
  • Take personal responsibility for jewelry and other high value items.
  • Check and sign the inventory of your belongings.
  • Ensure that no prohibited items are packed.
     

What can or can't I take with me?
Generally speaking, dispose of all flammable items, liquids, foods and other items that should not be shipped. Anything that can deteriorate should not be shipped.

Shipping certain high value items or collections may require you to purchase extra coverage.

Am I Protected Against Loss Or Damage While My Goods Are In Transit?
Yes, but how much protection you have and its cost to you depends upon the "valuation" program you choose. The option you choose determines the basis upon which any claim will be adjusted and the maximum liability of the moving company. Please contact us for more information on the programs available.

Suppose I pack myself?
Why not? But be aware of the potential problems. For instance, valuation coverage will not pay out on goods packed by their owner, unless the exterior of the box is damaged.

How long will Sunway take to pack my goods?
Every home is different but we can normally pack a home in 1-2 days.

Can I leave my clothes in their drawers?
Yes, you can. Just be sure not to leave anything solid that can damage the piece.

How and When Should I Pay?
Payment can be made by one of the following methods: cash, traveler's check, money order or cashier's check. In addition, the American Express Card, Discover Card, Visa or MasterCard can be used to pay for interstate moves only, with advance approval required prior to loading (unless other billing arrangements have been made). Personal checks are not accepted.
